About Me

I grew up in Southern California and married my high school sweetheart. We have been married for 35 years and have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. My husband just retired this past March after 35+ years of working and we are figuring out what life will look like now that he’s retired! I love designing beautiful functional spaces and organizing my home one drawer at a time (still working on it). I am a die hard Survivor fan (Jeff pick me please) and would go to a broadway musical every night if I could!

I have been in social media since 2014 and have had the privilege of working with many amazing brands over the past 10+ years. I have also met many wonderful people and been given some wonderful opportunities through my social platforms. You can find me on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Lemon8, FLIP, and Pinterest @sueandherhome.

Thanks for stopping by,

Sue

The question I get asked the most is

what is your design style

It can sometimes be overwhelming to find your own personal design style. I usually tell people to fill their homes with the things that bring them the most joy or find the things that they love and that is what builds a home. Your home may not look like your neighbor’s home but do we want our home to be a cookie cutter of our neighbor’s? I sure don’t. I love a good mix of styles when I am designing a space and keep my fingers crossed that I can pull it off! I say try different things and get our of your comfort zone a little bit. Splash a little color on those walls and buy that orange couch you’ve been wanting! If you hate it….oh well, you at least tried it and it’s okay if it did not work out. We all try things and fail. Life is too short. Take risks.

My design style can’t be defined as one style, it’s definitely more on the modern side now but I love to mix in other styles as well. I don’t make rules when it comes to design. If I love it, then I use it. I love to thrift and use old and new together. I think there is beauty in vintage things. I don’t have unlimited funds so I have to stay on a budget. I look for bargains and things on sale. I always look to see if I can DIY something as well. I love to use paint if I can in my designs because it’s cheap and you get a lot of bang for your buck!
