Garage Makeover
With 25+ years of clutter in our main garage, we decided it was finally time to clean it up and get organized.
Lowe’s Home Improvement is helping us with this garage makeover by providing all of the organization, storage, paint and supplies we will need to accomplish this makeover.
There is a lot of work to do as you can see from the above photos. Our plan is to go through EVERYTHING!
We started out by making piles: Trash, Donate, Keep, Sell
It was a very slow process, as there was so much stuff in this space. This process took over a month to finish and it was so exhausting mentally and physically. We realized very quickly that this “STUFF” had been weighing us down and once we had gone through all of it and made piles, it felt great!
We had a yard sale and sold some things and got rid of 90% of it. We ordered a dumpster because there was soooo much stuff to throw away.
Once we completed the clean-up, we decided to create a mood board with products we wanted to bring into the space. We had a clear vision of what we wanted to do and were so excited to start.

Painting Garage Walls
Walls Painted!
We painted the garage in a day using paint from Lowe’s Exclusive Line STAINMASTER Paint. The color we chose was Pumice Stone, a darker neutral color. This particular paint is great for garage surfaces and its durable and will last a long time. It’s so nice to have the paint on the walls.
We wanted to start on the floors after we painted, but the flooring we ordered would not arrive for a few weeks so we pivoted and started working on the installation of racks, storage shelves, and tools. We put together the KOBALT Rolling Tool Chest from Lowe’s. This is where the bulk of our tools will be stored and it will provide great organization for the tools.

After we added the tools and storage we tackled the floors. We used 21 x 21 PVC Interlocking Garage Floor Tiles from Lowe’s. Our old floors were stained, old and dirty. Adding new floors really changed the whole look of the garage.

Installing new floors
We worked together to install the floors and I thought we were going to have to call in reinforcement help from my son-in-law, but we did it! It was so satisfying to install them ourselves! I love the color of the floor and the material is perfect. The floor tiles snap into place using a mallet. I would say the floor was the most challenging part of this project besides the clean up.
DRUM ROLL. . . . . .
It does not even look like the same space! We are so happy with the outcome of this project! Thank you to Lowe’s Home Improvement for partnering with us. We love the tools, storage, floor, lights, and paint.
This project was not easy and it took a long time to complete, but it was so worth it!
