Perspective

When I first started this blog, I thought I would be blogging all the time. I thought it would be easy. Obviously that did not happen and it’s been quite a time lapse. I have learned that in life you make time for what you want to make time for and it’s really true. If you want to read books, you will read books. If you want to blog, you will. It’s as simple as that. I guess I really did not want to blog.

Funny about time and how much can pass and things happen and life just continues to progress. There is nothing you can do about time. It goes on and on. You age and that’s that. It happens to everyone. You are nothing special when it comes to time. I guess that’s what I have been thinking about lately because my husband retired this past March. It was a pretty big thing in our house. Something we had anticipated happening for years. It finally happened.

We made a big-to-do about it. I made a countdown game for him. I had family, co-workers and friends write well wishes to him (secretly) and then I typed them up and each day in the month of March (his retirement month) I would give him one message per day to read. Then on the game I made for him, he would advance one space in his car, so that he was one space closer to retirement day! He really loved it and it was a lot of work.

Countdown to retirement

He is 56 years old and was able to retire from his job. I am really proud of him because he has planned and worked so hard to be able to do it at his age. We threw him a huge party at Hangar 21 and it was such a great evening! Co-workers, family and close friends came and made it such a special night for him. We will always remember it.

Retirement bucket list for guests to sign

So now he’s retired and so far it’s been great. He does his thing and I do mine. We are figuring this thing out. Soon we will be headed on our retirement cruise and we are so excited! It’s our first ocean cruise. We have done one river cruise and it was amazing.

This cruise is to Norway, Scotland, United Kingdom and London.

Can’t wait to fill you in on all the cruise details when I return!
