DIY Door Frame for Halloween Using PVC Pipe

If you want to up your game for the Halloween/Fall/Christmas, I have got the project for you!

This is a project I have been wanting to try for some time now. Well, today is the day and I am tackling this DIY PVC pipe frame. It’s a game changer! Attach all your decor with zip ties and change out for the seasons, holidays, and any special occasions you may be celebrating such as a graduation or baby shower.

Let’s get into it!

I took a trip to my local hardware store and bought some PVC pipe and had it cut on the spot for the dimensions around my front door. I used the 1-inch size pipe around the frame and the corner pieces are 1-1/2 inch pipe. The 1-inch pipe fits into the corner pieces nicely.

I used zip ties to secure the frame to nails that were already in the wood trim around my door

Grab your tape measure because you will need measurements of your door. Figure out where you want the PVC pipe frame to fit around your door and measure the right side, left side and top.

My measurements were 102 inches on the right and left side and 50 inches across the top.

Next, head to your local hardware store and have an associate help you cut it to size. If you have a saw or pipe cutter, you can do this yourself at home.

Once you have all the correct pieces, grab some zip ties to secure it to the wall with nails. (I already had nails in my doorframe for garland at Christmastime). I also used zip ties to add my decor to the pipe.

You can place the bottom of the pipes in a bucket and weight down with sand or I have seen some people place a pipe in a container and cement it inside. This gives it stability. It is really personal choice. I made a stand-alone PVC pipe frame around my door by adding a small piece of PVC pipe on the bottom that has a hole at the top for the side piece to go in and then it also has another hole for a piece of pipe to fit through that (see next pictures)

Now that it is finished, I am ready to add my Halloween-themed decor for this year! I know it’s a little early and my neighbors probably think I am crazy, but I’m doing it anyway!

I purchased some bright-colored pumpkins from At Home Stores in various sizes and colors and I also had some from previous years in my Halloween decor boxes. I used a mix of new and old pumpkins. I really wanted to add the groovy pink color in this year!

At Home Stores Pumpkins: $2.99 small, 4.99 medium, $9.99 for the large size

Next, I drilled holes in the back of the pumpkins and put zip ties on them so that I could secure them to the PVC pipe doorframe.

Drill 2 holes in the back of the pumpkin, enough to get the zip tie through so it can be secured to PVC pipe

The larger pumpkins needed two zip ties to fit around the PVC pipe. The smaller ones fit perfectly with one zip tie.

Next I added some black leaf garland to hide the PVC pipe and I love the way it turned out!

Black Leaf Garland was perfect!

The great thing about this project is that it can be used for multiple holidays, birthdays, baby showers or on any occasion.

I also added some dead tree branches with pretty fall leaves to bring in that Fall vibe.
